What people say
“Last week we interviewed three people - one lives in a tent, another in a shed and the other has no shelter at all. It was a poignant and moving moment knowing that we were going to be able to house these three people. Green Pastures is helping us to fulfil our vision for eradicating homelessness here in Wakefield, and we see it as the culmination of our 9 years’ work, helping the homeless. Last year we served 6,500 meals but we were not able to provide what people really need, their own home. We see ourselves as representing Green Pastures this side of the Pennines, and working with them is enhancing our own existing relationships with key agencies like the police and others."
Pastor Kevin Foster, New Life Christian Centre, Wakefield, West Yorkshire
"We are delighted to be partnering with Green Pastures. They are providing a radical yet simple solution to one of the greatest social problems in the UK. In Green Pastures we have found a rare combination of faith and business sense. Working in partnership with them will change the lives of the most vulnerable people in our society. We are excited at the prospect of a long-term partnership with Green Pastures that will change the lives of many desperate people. They are pioneers of faith where many have feared to tread."
Dave Smith, Director, Boaz Trust
"Green Pastures takes ethical investment to a new level. It's ingenious that our savings are maturing in line with the housing market and also helping in a very practical way to solve the homeless problem. The work that Green Pastures does goes well beyond providing homes to the homeless. They recognise that homeless people often need far more than homes and therefore seek to help them back into the community and give them a purpose for living. I count it a privilege to share in their work in this way."
Paul Nadin, Chief Executive, Resource Team Ltd - Investor in GPHL
“Green Pastures is practical Christianity, what the gospel really means. You don’t win people to the Christian faith by just talking to them, but by doing what the gospel says, reaching out to people who are poor and in need.”
Robert Wickham, Planning Adviser to the Church of England
“Green Pastures gives an advantage to those who are disadvantaged, and a hope to those in a hopeless situation. In a city where the local council discriminates and shows preference, the mission statement of Green Pastures allows us to show God's love to a needy people. It’s an honour and privilege to partner with them.”
Ernest Hibbert, Project Manager, Community Awareness Programme, Wakefield
"Keen to tackle our homelessness problem in Pontefract, Rev Vic Iwanushak and I went to visit Pastor Pete in Southport to pick his brains and learn from him the pitfalls that he had encountered in his own journey. After a couple of hours we had learned so much, we felt privileged to have been allowed to gain from his knowledge. As we were being seen out, Pastor Pete turned to us and said he would start our vision going by pledging two houses to our mission in Pontefract. We couldn't believe our ears! That was the last thing we had expected. We praise, and thank the Lord for giving Pastor Pete such a wonderful vision that benefits so many in our society."
Trevor West, Director, The Saviour Trust, Pontefract, West Yorkshire
