HM Prisons embark on Pilot Scheme to house ex-offenders

HM Prison Service in the North-West has embarked on a Pilot Scheme with Green Pastures Housing around the re-housing of their ex-offenders.

So keen were they to get the Pilot underway that they readily agreed to waive their right to insist we work with other agencies of their choice. Instead, the Service Level Agreement stipulates that Green Pastures is free to select agencies that we consider best suited to the task, for example, Christians Against Poverty, for debt counselling services. We have also stipulated that we require regular written reports from any statutory agencies brought in to assist the ex-offenders, such as Social Services, Drugs Counselling and healthcare services. In this way we can ensure that the service deliver is effective and not just box ticking in line with their KPIs. This Pilot Scheme is the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the high numbers of ex-offenders who need help. Watch this space.
